About the Project

This strategy is be based on the theory that portions of the Austin Community College (“ACC”) Riverside Campus could be developed as an initial phase of a much larger Arts District. The Arts District would be designed as a community development strategy with the city of Austin, Travis County and ACC, wherein the stakeholders would create a defined area within the land that is presently owned or controlled by he Client and the Riverside Campus, which would attract various members of the Arts Community to create a vibrant sense of place, provide a venue for diverse arts and other innovative events, and offer educational and social programs that engage local residents, tourists and ACC students and faculty. The Arts District would provide workforce and affordable housing for artists, students and local residents who, in turn, support the arts, education, workforce development and social-development work of the Arts District. In short, it is envisioned that a long-term, sustainable funding solution can be created to assist in developing, securing and promoting Arts and Culture in Austin.
